About

John Cashion is a partner and founding member of Cashion Gilmore & Lindemuth in Anchorage. He represents individuals and corporations in criminal defense matters in federal and state court, with a particular focus on white-collar defense, investigations, and complex civil litigation. His practice extends throughout Alaska, including rural communities, and he has conducted more than 100 jury trials across a wide range of serious criminal and civil matters.

Cashion earned a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1997 and a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in 1993. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable James K. Singleton in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. His legal education and federal clerkship provided a strong foundation in criminal procedure, litigation strategy, courtroom practice, and the analysis of complex federal legal issues.

Cashion later served with the Alaska Public Defender Agency in both rural and urban settings and ultimately supervised the felony and misdemeanor Trial Unit in Anchorage. He gained extensive jury trial experience and secured acquittals in cases ranging from misdemeanors to unclassified felonies. In private practice, he has expanded his work to federal white-collar defense, criminal investigations, complex civil disputes, and strategic planning for corporate and individual clients.

John Cashion combines trial experience, public defense service, and federal court experience in representing clients facing significant legal exposure. He remains actively involved in training new lawyers and developing trial advocacy skills. His background on high-stakes criminal matters and complex litigation helps clients evaluate evidence, understand procedural risks, prepare for contested proceedings, and develop practical strategies in matters that may involve investigations, trials, or broader business consequences.
