Duffy Trager

Duffy Trager is a dedicated and accomplished immigration attorney with extensive experience in navigating complex immigration laws. He has a deep commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations and has represented clients in various legal matters before Immigration Courts, USCIS, ICE, and U.S. consulates. His practice areas include asylum, cancellation of removal, family-based immigration, T/U visas, waivers, appeals, and extraordinary ability visas. He is also experienced in handling national interest waivers and naturalization cases.

Duffy earned his Juris Doctor from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 2010. During law school, he distinguished himself in advocacy competitions, winning the New York University Immigration Moot Court Competition and the Pirtle-Washer Oral Advocacy Competition. He also served as a published editor of the Journal of Law and Education, contributing to legal scholarship on cyberbullying and education law.

Duffy began his career as a trial attorney with the Louisville Metro Public Defender Office, where he gained significant litigation experience. During this time, he defended clients in both misdemeanor and felony cases, achieving multiple acquittals, including in high-stakes trials. His legal acumen earned him the prestigious Walker Award for excellence in a felony jury trial.

Transitioning to immigration law, Duffy has consistently demonstrated his passion for helping individuals and families navigate the immigration system. His work has included assisting asylum seekers fleeing persecution, reuniting families through visa processes, and helping individuals gain legal status in the United States. His bilingual skills in English and Spanish enable him to connect effectively with a diverse range of clients.

In addition to his legal practice, Duffy has contributed to the field as a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, serving in leadership roles such as Pro Bono Committee Chair and Federal Court Litigation Section member. He has also worked as a consultant and pro bono attorney for human rights organizations, reflecting his dedication to social justice.
