Dorothy Auth

Dr. Dorothy Auth is a partner at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP with over three decades of experience. She focuses on patent litigation, intellectual property licensing, patent procurement, and counseling. Her work spans biotechnology, FinTech, medical devices, consumer products, computers, and mechanical devices across many global markets.

Dorothy earned a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1996, a Ph.D. from Tufts University in 1991, and a B.A. from Rutgers University in 1985. Her strong academic background supports her practical legal advice and technical understanding for clients in complex intellectual property matters.

Dorothy works with clients to build intellectual property assets and legal strategies that protect their innovations. She advises domestic and international clients and handles complex patent disputes. Her experience includes matters before U.S. Federal Courts, the International Trade Commission, and international arbitrations under AAA and WIPO rules.

Dorothy has significant international experience coordinating patent trials, oppositions, and hearings across the United States and Europe. She has handled cases seeking preliminary relief and cross-border injunctions. She also secured a rare FRCP 12(b)(6) dismissal in the Eastern District of Texas, highlighting her strong litigation skills consistently.

Dorothy has received many honors for her work in intellectual property law. She was named a Patent Star in 2023 and 2025 and listed in Best Lawyers in America for Patent Law. She has also been recognized by Lawdragon, Euromoney, Crain’s New York Business, and the National Law Journal.

Dorothy is active in professional organizations and leadership roles. She is a past president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and a member of ChIPs. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Intellectual Property American Inn of Court and co-chairs its Program Committee.

Dorothy Auth advises clients including Credit Suisse, Torreya Partners, The Medicines Company, Pfizer, Medinol, Goldman Sachs, Anheuser Busch InBev, and the National Institutes of Health. She is admitted to multiple U.S. courts and is licensed before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for practice nationwide.
