His practice focuses on real estate, construction law, construction liens, business law, and collections and creditors’ rights. Donald also handles zoning, boundary, and water disputes involving homes, vacation properties, condominiums, and businesses. His work includes litigation, transactional counseling, and dispute resolution for clients dealing with complex property, commercial, and construction-related legal issues.
Donald earned his J.D. from Valparaiso University in 1977 after receiving a B.S. in Mathematics from Calvin College in 1973. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1977. Donald has served as lead counsel in precedent-setting Michigan Supreme Court and Court of Appeals matters involving the Land Division Act, Construction Lien Act, Builders Trust Fund Act, and Michigan’s conversion statute. He has also handled multimillion-dollar discrimination and wrongful death matters. In addition to litigation, he has been a certified trained mediator since 2003 and is approved as a neutral mediator in several Michigan counties, including Kent, Allegan, Barry, and Ottawa.
Donald R. Visser is admitted in Michigan and before several federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. His professional service has included State Bar of Michigan sections and committees, the Federal Bar Association, and the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission.
