About
Don Haslam is a Texas and Oklahoma trial lawyer who handles criminal defense, civil rights, personal injury, and other complex litigation. He represents clients in matters involving serious criminal charges, government misconduct, trucking accidents, and other injury claims. His practice draws on decades of courtroom experience and a background in finance. He focuses on detailed investigation, legal analysis, and trial preparation when clients face significant personal, financial, or constitutional consequences.
Don earned a degree in economics from the University of Chicago and later attended the University of Tulsa College of Law while working as a vice president and foreign exchange trader. Before entering law, he worked in banking, securities trading, and portfolio management. His financial background supports his ability to understand records, valuation issues, and technical evidence, particularly in white collar matters and disputes requiring explanation to judges and juries.
Don began his legal career handling business transactions for corporate and government clients before establishing his litigation practice in 2000. From 2007 through 2011, he served as a public defender in three southeastern Oklahoma counties, personally defending more than 500 felony and 400 misdemeanor cases. His broader litigation work includes criminal defense, civil rights claims, personal injury disputes, and matters requiring extensive discovery, witness preparation, motion practice, negotiation, and trial.
Don Haslam is admitted in Texas and Oklahoma, all federal district courts in both states, the Fifth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the US Supreme Court. He has also served as chancellor for an Anglican diocese and as a board member of a national domestic abuse organization. His background combines litigation, public defense, finance, and community service, supporting practical advocacy in complex criminal and civil matters across jurisdictions.
