Diane F. Vallentine is a highly respected attorney with more than four decades of experience in Alaska’s legal community. Her diversified civil practice focuses on representing businesses in commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, and commercial transactions. She also has significant experience in contested trust and estate litigation, applying her business litigation background to complex disputes. Unique among Alaska lawyers, Vallentine also handles workers’ compensation premium law, making her practice especially distinctive and versatile.
Vallentine earned her B.A., with highest honors, from the University of California in 1974 and her J.D., with distinction, from the University of Arizona in 1977. She is admitted to the Alaska Bar and practices before the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. Over the course of her career, she has become a well-known leader in the legal profession, serving as president of the Alaska Bar Association, the Anchorage Bar Association, and the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Vallentine’s career includes acting as lead or sole counsel in numerous matters involving contract disputes, fraud, foreclosures, shareholder and partnership disputes, employment law, real estate, secured lending, and banking issues. She has resolved hundreds of cases through settlement, mediation, trial, and dispositive rulings. She has also served as an expert witness in cases involving bankruptcy, corporate dissolutions, shareholder rights, and commercial transactions. Known for her skill in preparing clients for the stresses of litigation, she provides strong advocacy while supporting clients through challenging processes.

She has held Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating for over 20 years, has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for more than a decade, and was named to Alaska Super Lawyers in 2016.
