Derek Martin

Derek earned his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law in 2011, where he was active on the Moot Court Board, recognized as Best Oralist, and consistently placed on the Dean’s List. Derek completed his undergraduate studies at Tougaloo College, graduating summa cum laude in 2008. He is admitted to practice law in both Mississippi and Texas.

Derek began his career as a law clerk for Judge Winston L. Kidd at the Hinds County Circuit Court, where he researched complex legal issues and drafted opinions on both civil and criminal cases. He then served as an Assistant Public Defender in Hinds County, gaining valuable first-chair trial experience and representing clients in arraignments, bond hearings, and trials. These formative roles gave him deep insight into trial strategy, courtroom advocacy, and client-centered representation.

Since entering private practice, Derek has dedicated himself to protecting the rights of individuals and families.
