Debbie R. Whitley

Debbie R. Whitley is an associate attorney in the Gwinnett office of McMichael & Gray, P.C. whose practice includes real estate law, commercial law, and construction law. Her career has included residential real estate closings, creditor’s rights and foreclosure work, acquisitions and development, and commercial real estate. She joined the firm’s commercial and construction team in 2019 after building experience across several segments of the property industry.

Debbie received a Bachelor of Science from the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech in 1986. After working at a commercial architecture firm for three years, she attended Georgia State University Law School at night and received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1993. Her combined architecture and legal background provides useful context for property transactions, development matters, construction issues, and commercial real estate work involving technical and contractual details.

Debbie began closing residential real estate after law school, with a focus on relocation corporate clients. She expanded into creditor’s rights and foreclosure work in 1998 and returned to residential real estate in 2004, managing an office for a closing practice. In 2010, she moved into acquisitions and development and commercial real estate, experience that now informs her work on transactions and construction-related matters.

Debbie R. Whitley is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Appellate Court, and the US District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia.
