David Yarborough

David Yarborough is a co-founding partner of Yarborough Applegate and a nationally recognized trial lawyer with a history of record-setting results. In 2023, he and his team secured a $44.6 million jury verdict against Amazon.com, Inc.—the first case to hold the company liable for the acts of its delivery drivers. This remains one of the largest injury verdicts in South Carolina history.

David earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Before founding Yarborough Applegate, he was a partner at another Charleston-based firm, where he gained national litigation experience defending product liability cases across the country. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, he brings a unique perspective to discovery, negotiations, and trial strategy.

Throughout his career, David has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for catastrophically injured clients. His cases span insurance bad faith, industrial accidents, product liability, toxic spills, pool drownings, trucking collisions, and dram shop liability. His work has also led to landmark results, including Charleston County’s largest dram shop verdict and one of the top 100 jury verdicts in the United States for a $35.9 million result against a power company.

Beyond the courtroom, David is deeply engaged in professional and community service. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the South Carolina Association of Justice, and the American Association for Justice, and he has served on the Charleston County Bar’s Mental Wellness Committee. He has also received the University of South Carolina Complete Lawyer Award for his professional achievements.
