David R. Lipson

David R. Lipson is Senior Counsel at Raphael Bellum PLLC, where he works with the firm’s Engineering and Design and Trademark teams. He advises small and growing companies on intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, counseling, and related litigation. His clients and matters span engineering and product design, software, consumer products, medical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals, often involving the protection and commercial use of technical or creative assets.

Lipson earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A. from Brandeis University. He later clerked for the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. His legal education and federal clerkship provided a foundation in legal analysis, written advocacy, and complex federal procedure, while his broader professional background helps him understand how intellectual property decisions can affect product development, investment, commercialization, and competitive positioning.

Lipson previously practiced in the Washington, DC offices of two national law firms and also founded and operated his own company. His experience includes working with senior executives, inventors, and content creators on intellectual property strategy and disputes. He helps clients consider how patents, trademarks, confidential information, agreements, and licensing arrangements fit together, including when a growing business must protect technology while also developing partnerships, products, and market opportunities.
