David Ordway

David Ordway has practiced law for more than forty years. He has served clients in courtrooms and boardrooms. His litigation work includes boundary disputes, quiet title actions, and personal injury cases. He also advises clients on business, real estate, and corporate matters, drawing on practical experience and sound legal judgment.

David earned his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 1975. During law school, he served as Editor of the Maine Law Review from 1974 to 1975. He was admitted to the Maine Bar and the US District Court in 1975, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1986.

David has handled many courtroom matters during his career. One notable case was a 1985 products liability claim against a nail gun manufacturer and distributor. The case resulted in a $9.7 million jury verdict. At that time, it was far larger than any personal injury verdict returned by a Maine jury.

David has also organized hundreds of corporations and limited liability companies. He advises clients on business sales, acquisitions, mergers, and general business matters. His work also includes residential subdivisions, condominiums, commercial real estate development, and commercial and residential leases. He helps clients make informed decisions in complex business matters.

David brings hands-on business experience to his legal advice. For several years, he owned and operated one of the largest resort campgrounds in the State of Maine. This experience helps him understand business issues from a practical view. He applies that knowledge when advising clients on operations and transactions.

David Ordway continues to serve clients with broad legal experience. His work includes litigation, business formation, real estate, leases, acquisitions, mergers, and title matters.
