David M. Barbash

David M. Barbash is the Managing Partner of ArentFox Schiff’s Boston office. He leads a broad corporate practice focused on guiding public and private companies through complex business matters. His work centers on mergers and acquisitions, financings, and strategic alliances across a range of industries and business stages.

David earned a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990, where he served as Notes Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law. He also holds a BA, magna cum laude, from Connecticut College, completed in 1985, reflecting strong academic achievement and commitment.

David represents both early-stage and established companies in sectors such as software, technology, manufacturing, medical devices, and consumer products and services. He advises clients through formation, growth, and operational challenges, offering practical legal guidance that supports business goals and long-term success in competitive markets.

David has advised entrepreneurs on forming and financing early-stage businesses. He has also represented middle-market companies in sales to strategic acquirers and private equity firms. His work includes handling acquisitions, joint ventures, and investments, including matters involving a Massachusetts quasi-governmental agency in cleantech.

Before joining ArentFox Schiff, David was the Immediate-Past Managing Partner at Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP. He also served as a Partner at Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar and Nixon Peabody LLP. These roles strengthened his leadership skills and deepened his experience in complex corporate transactions and client advisory work.

David is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has been recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in 2008, 2009, 2010, and every year from 2012 through 2018, reflecting consistent professional excellence and peer recognition in his field.
