David J. Karnes

David J. Karnes is an Indiana attorney who advises individuals, families, and businesses on complex legal matters. His practice spans business law, real estate, estate planning, and civil litigation. David earned his B.S. in 1996 from Bob Jones University, then pursued legal studies. He graduated magna cum laude with his J.D. in 2001 from Indiana University School of Law. He was admitted to practice law in 2001 and is licensed in Indiana as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.

David advises clients on Business Counsel & Contracts, Business Structuring/Choice of Entity, Corporate Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Intellectual Property matters, including Trademarks and Copyrights. He also represents clients in Civil Litigation and Appeals, providing strategic advocacy in both trial and appellate courts.

David’s real estate practice includes Purchase and sale agreements, Landlord and tenant leasing and subleasing, Construction, Home Improvement and architect/engineering contracts, acquiring and developing Land, Foreclosures, Loan workouts and debt restructuring, and obtaining zoning and other approvals required for development. He also assists municipalities with developing and updating zoning regulations and handles Condemnation/Eminent Domain matters.

David provides Estate Planning – Wills & Trusts services, including Testamentary and family trusts, Special needs trusts, Revocable living trusts, Irrevocable trusts, Charitable planning, General durable power of attorney, Health care representative, Living Will, and Probate & Estate Administration.
