About

David Ferrance is a trial and appellate attorney serving clients in Albuquerque and across New Mexico. His work includes probate lawsuits and disputes over wills, inheritance, and estate administration. He represents parties in court hearings and trials and also handles appeals involving contested legal issues. Other attorneys engage him to assist with appellate proceedings. His approach centers on researching the controlling law, developing clear arguments, and protecting favorable trial court results when a decision is challenged.

David earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1995 and a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2010. He was named to the Order of the Coif, received clinical honors, and served as managing editor of the New Mexico Law Review. His academic work provided experience with intensive legal research and writing, both important to appellate briefs and disputes involving difficult legal questions.

David clerked for Judge Michael Bustamante of the New Mexico Court of Appeals from 2010 to 2012 and Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2012 to 2013. He has handled hundreds of appeals and argued matters in courts across New Mexico. His admissions include the Tenth Circuit, Federal Circuit, federal district court in New Mexico, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

David Ferrance has served on New Mexico Supreme Court committees addressing civil jury instructions and appellate procedure. He has also taught intellectual property and contract law as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law. His experience across trial courts, appellate courts, and judicial chambers informs how he identifies decisive legal questions. He works to develop arguments that can withstand review while helping clients understand the procedural options available in their disputes.
