David Ellison

David Ellison is the founding attorney of Ellison Law LLC in Providence, Rhode Island, and focuses his practice on criminal defense. He represents clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts in matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. His work includes jury trials, suppression hearings, motion practice, investigation, negotiation, and other stages of criminal litigation where a client’s liberty, record, and future may be at stake.

Ellison earned his bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College and his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Criminal Defense Clinic and interned with public defender offices in Mississippi and Alaska. His education and clinic experience provided early exposure to client representation, criminal procedure, evidence, courtroom advocacy, and the practical responsibilities of defending accused individuals.

Ellison previously served as a staff attorney with the Massachusetts public defender system and as an Assistant City Solicitor for Providence. Those public-sector roles add experience with courtroom practice, government procedure, and the evaluation of criminal cases. In private practice, he has handled jury trials and suppression matters involving contested evidence, constitutional issues, witness credibility, and the prosecution’s burden of proof.

David Ellison has been recognized by Super Lawyers and Rhode Island Monthly for criminal defense work. Ellison is licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and is admitted in federal court in Rhode Island.
