David Cohen

David Cohen is the founder and managing attorney of the Cohen Defense Group, the largest private criminal defense firm in Placer County, California. Certified by the California State Bar as a Specialist in Criminal Law, he has represented thousands of clients in cases ranging from misdemeanors to murder. With nearly three decades of experience, he is recognized for his relentless defense strategies and commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of the accused.

David earned his Juris Doctor from UC Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law) in 1994 and his Bachelor of Science in Speech from Northwestern University in 1991. Initially intending to practice corporate law, his passion for criminal defense was ignited through a defense clinic during law school—a turning point that defined his career. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1995 and has since built a reputation as one of the region’s most respected and effective trial lawyers.
