David Cannon is the founding partner of Cannon Law in Blackfoot, Idaho, and a criminal defense attorney with more than 29 years of experience. He represents individuals facing charges ranging from traffic violations and misdemeanors to serious felonies and first-degree murder. His practice includes DUI and DWI defense, drug charges, juvenile defense, and other criminal matters, with a focus on protecting constitutional rights and pursuing practical resolutions.
Cannon earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brigham Young University in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Utah in 1995. During law school, he received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award as the top student in his criminal law class for the 1992–1993 academic year. His education provided a strong foundation in criminal statutes, procedure, evidence, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy.
Cannon has represented hundreds of clients throughout his criminal law career. His experience includes negotiating with prosecutors, obtaining dismissals, reducing felony charges to misdemeanors, and trying cases before judges and juries.
