Daniel R. Bentson

Daniel R. Bentson is an experienced trial attorney known for handling complex commercial disputes and insurance-related litigation. He has successfully represented clients in high-value cases involving bad faith claims and coverage issues. His work includes trial advocacy, mediation, and appellate representation, helping clients resolve challenging legal disputes efficiently.

Daniel earned a B.A. from Biola University in 2002 and later obtained his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2005. His academic background built a strong legal foundation, preparing him for both trial and appellate practice, as well as his later role in teaching insurance law.

Daniel has extensive experience across a wide range of insurance matters, including commercial property, marine, cyber, life, and disability coverage. He also works on third-party liability matters such as commercial general liability, employer’s liability, and errors and omissions. His broad knowledge allows him to guide clients through complex legal and coverage challenges.

Daniel has represented both domestic and international clients in high-stakes disputes. He has achieved favorable outcomes through summary judgment, trial, and strategic negotiation. His experience in handling large-scale matters helps clients pursue fair recovery while managing legal risks in demanding situations.

Daniel also maintains an active appellate practice. He has appeared before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Sixth Circuits, as well as state supreme courts in Washington and Oregon. His appellate work began after clerking for Justice James Johnson of the Washington Supreme Court, shaping his legal reasoning and advocacy skills.

Daniel previously served in the United States Army JAG Corps, where he handled felony prosecutions and acted as lead counsel in a capital murder case. During his service, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.
