About
Courtney Preston Kellner is a partner at Kellner Green, PLLC in Louisville whose practice focuses on family law. Most of her representation is concentrated on divorce, custody, and child abuse litigation. She has appeared in a wide range of proceedings in Jefferson District, Circuit, and Family courts. Her work also includes extensive advocacy for children through court appointments and representation connected to dependency, neglect, and abuse matters.
Courtney earned a J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Louisville in 2007, graduating magna cum laude. During law school, she clerked with McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland, the Franklin County Circuit Court, and Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Bill Cunningham. Those experiences gave her exposure to trial courts, appellate work, and private practice before her family-law career developed.
Courtney previously served as a staff attorney with the Louisville Metro Public Defender, representing individuals across the local judicial system. In family court, she is regularly appointed as a Guardian ad Litem and Friend of the Court and has served as a panel attorney on the dependency, neglect, and abuse docket since 2015. She has also served as Chancellor to the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church since 2017.
Courtney Preston Kellner was admitted in Kentucky in 2011 and belongs to the American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, and Women Lawyers Association. In 2021, she received the Community Service Alumni Award from the Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky for work helping organize pro bono representation for more than 600 protestors. Her practice combines family litigation, child advocacy, public defense experience, and community service.
