Cori Mills

Cori Mills serves as Acting Attorney General of Alaska, leading legal work for the state with a strong background in public law. She was appointed to the role in May 2026 after years of service with the Alaska Department of Law. Her career has included work as an assistant attorney general, section supervisor, and deputy attorney general over the Civil Division. Through these roles, she has supported state agencies, advised public officials, and helped protect reliable government service for Alaskans.

Mills earned her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She also holds a B.A. in political science. Her legal education prepared her to study laws, review public issues, and explain complex rules in clear ways. The political science degree gave her a strong base in government, policy, and public decision-making. These degrees support her work in state legal matters, including legislation, regulations, elections, and civil agency questions that affect communities across Alaska statewide.

Mills practiced land use and environmental law in California before joining the Alaska Department of Law in 2012. That work involved rules affecting property, development, public resources, and environmental concerns. In Alaska, she later handled legislative and regulatory matters and represented the Division of Elections and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. Her experience helped public offices follow legal requirements, manage disputes, and serve residents with steadier guidance during important government processes, public decisions, and services across important state programs.

Cori Mills helped oversee civil legal issues affecting state agencies as deputy attorney general. In that role, she supported legal advice on agency operations, public programs, and decisions that touch residents’ daily lives.
