About
Corey Young is a criminal defense attorney known for careful listening, clear strategy, and disciplined preparation. Daily work centers on understanding each client’s concerns before building a defense. Every case, large or small, begins with focused attention, thoughtful planning, and respect for the serious impact criminal charges can have on life and family.
Corey earned a philosophy degree, which strengthened early skills in reasoning and analysis. That academic foundation led to law school at the University of Texas, where a Juris Doctor was completed, and a strong interest in criminal law took shape. Legal training focused on logic, writing, and careful analysis, later applied to trials, appeals, and post-conviction matters.
Corey began legal training as a criminal defense law clerk in Austin. Regular meetings with individuals accused of serious crimes taught the value of listening first. The case strategy was shaped only after expectations were understood and facts were reviewed. This early experience formed a client-focused approach still used today.
Corey later joined the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office as an appellate prosecutor. Unusually, early work involved complicated felony appeals. Dozens of direct appeals and more than one hundred writs of habeas corpus responses followed. Multiple oral arguments were presented before the Ninth Court of Appeals, with only two appeals lost.
Corey moved into private practice after seven years as a prosecutor and developed strong trial experience in both criminal and civil cases. Jury trials, settlement negotiations, and probation revocation defense strengthened courtroom judgment. Focus later returned fully to criminal law, including appeals, parole matters, and post-conviction challenges.
Corey values clear communication, careful review of records, and steady guidance during stressful proceedings. Work often involves explaining complex procedures in plain language, preparing thoroughly for hearings, and anticipating challenges raised by the State. This method supports informed decisions, realistic expectations, and steady progress at every stage of a case process overall.
