About
Cody Warner is the principal attorney of a criminal defense practice in New York City. He defends individuals facing criminal charges and represents clients in civil rights cases arising from police misconduct. His practice includes serious felony matters, misdemeanor charges, and disputes involving allegations of false arrest or police brutality. He helps clients understand legal risks, evaluate evidence, and make decisions during stressful criminal and civil proceedings.
Warner graduated from Emory University School of Law. While studying law, he interned with the Georgia Capital Defender Office and helped work on a case in which a death sentence was reversed. After law school, he joined the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan and worked as a public defender for about a decade. That training and experience developed his trial skills and understanding of criminal procedure.
He has represented thousands of people accused of crimes and has worked on cases involving complex scientific and forensic evidence. Warner has collaborated with specialists in DNA analysis, firearms ballistics, forensic psychiatry, breathalyzer testing, and medical examinations. He has jury trial experience and also files civil litigation on behalf of clients alleging misconduct by law enforcement. His work spans case investigation, motions, negotiation, and trial.
Warner is admitted to practice in New York and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He belongs to criminal defense and police accountability organizations, including the National Police Accountability Project. Cody Warner draws on public defense, trial advocacy, and civil rights litigation to protect clients’ legal rights and to challenge evidence and government conduct when appropriate.
