Darryl W. Cunningham

Darryl W. Cunningham is a Chambersburg attorney whose practice focuses on family law and criminal defense. He has more than 30 years of experience handling domestic relations and criminal matters, including divorce, custody, domestic abuse, DUI, drug charges, misdemeanors, felonies, and serious jury trials. His earlier Pennsylvania practice also included bankruptcy, landlord-tenant disputes, and civil litigation, giving him broad courtroom experience before returning his focus to family and criminal matters.

Darryl earned a B.S. in Education from Shippensburg University in 1981 and later attended Penn State Dickinson School of Law, where he received the Joseph Leyburn Kramer Award. Before law school, he taught for four years. His background as an educator continued during his legal career through teaching family law and American jurisprudence in a paralegal program and later serving as an adjunct professor at William & Mary School of Law.

Darryl practiced in Pennsylvania from 1988 through 2007 on family, criminal, and civil matters, including cases involving domestic abuse, custody, divorce, traffic offenses, drugs, DUI, felonies, and capital murder. He later served as a Senior Staff Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia and supervised family law and domestic violence clinical work at William & Mary. His public-interest work involved thousands of matters for low-income clients, including hundreds involving domestic violence.

Darryl W. Cunningham has received recognition for his teaching and public service, including the George Wythe Society award and the 2023-2024 St. George Tucker Adjunct Professorship Award.
