Clint Sargent

Clint Sargent is an attorney with Meierhenry Sargent LLP in Sioux Falls whose practice combines criminal defense and substantial civil trial work. Clint has practiced with the firm since graduating from law school in 1998. He handles serious criminal charges as well as personal injury and eminent domain matters, drawing on decades of courtroom experience in state and federal courts and extensive work with experienced South Dakota trial lawyers.

Clint earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting with Honors from the University of South Dakota in 1994 and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota in 1998. His accounting background adds a useful analytical foundation for cases involving financial records and damages, while his legal education prepared him for trial advocacy. He has continued to develop that training through a career centered on contested civil and criminal matters.

Clint has tried more than 70 jury trials in civil and criminal cases and has argued before the South Dakota Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. His criminal defense work has included murder, assault, embezzlement, tax evasion, perjury, and driving under the influence. His civil work has included catastrophic injury and eminent domain disputes, including representation of landowners.

Clint Sargent is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has received the Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service and the South Dakota Trial Lawyer of the Year honor. Clint has also been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Great Plains Super Lawyers. His practice reflects sustained trial experience, professional leadership, and a focus on protecting clients’ interests in serious, high-stakes disputes.
