Edward Angel

Edward Angel is the founder of Angel Law, Prof. L.L.C. in Sioux Falls and focuses on criminal defense. Edward previously served for nearly six years as a Deputy State’s Attorney in Minnehaha County, giving him direct experience with how prosecutors investigate, charge, negotiate, and try criminal cases. He now applies that background to representing people accused of crimes and preparing defenses for negotiations, motions, and jury trials.

Edward earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento and then attended the University of Iowa College of Law, completing his undergraduate and law degrees in a combined period of just under four and a half years. During his final year of law school, he worked in the school’s legal clinic, primarily on criminal defense matters, gaining early practical experience representing clients.

After law school, Edward interned at the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office and later became a Deputy State’s Attorney. He handled thousands of criminal cases, from traffic offenses and DUIs to felony drug matters, assaults, and homicides, and tried seventeen cases to juries as solo or lead counsel for the State. He also received training in computer and mobile-device forensics before moving into private criminal defense practice.

Edward Angel formed Angel Law in 2018 after earlier private-practice experience that included criminal defense, family law, landlord-tenant issues, and general civil matters. Edward’s current focus is criminal defense, where his prosecutorial background and forensic training help him evaluate evidence, identify weaknesses in the State’s case, and prepare for plea negotiations or trial. He is also active in criminal-defense professional organizations and licensed in Iowa.
