Christy Jack is a seasoned criminal defense attorney and partner at Varghese Summersett, known for her exceptional courtroom presence and legal acumen. Over her 33-year career, she has tried more than 200 criminal cases, including numerous capital murder and high-profile sexual assault trials. Her national recognition includes features on major platforms such as 48 Hours, Dateline, and Court TV.
Christy earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1991 and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Baylor University (1988). Her academic foundation supports a strategic and analytical approach to her trial work, particularly in complex and high-stakes criminal cases.
Before joining private practice, Christy served over two decades as a prosecutor in the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. She rose through the ranks to become a chief prosecutor and ultimately a deputy chief. Her prosecutorial experience in felony trials and crimes against children solidified her reputation as one of Texas’s foremost litigation experts.
Appointed by Governor Rick Perry and reappointed by Governor Greg Abbott, Christy currently chairs the Governing Board of the Texas Civil Commitment Office. This role reflects her deep experience in managing cases involving the state’s most dangerous sex offenders. She also previously led the Criminal Justice Section of the State Bar of Texas, guiding more than 3,100 criminal lawyers statewide.
