About

Chris Daughtry is a personal injury attorney at Rutter Mills who fights for injured people and workers. For over 15 years, he has handled hundreds of injury and workers’ compensation cases. His work includes catastrophic boiler explosions, maritime accidents, traumatic brain injuries, wrongful death, and serious tractor-trailer crashes.

Chris earned his Bachelor of Science from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2004. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2010. He was selected by law faculty for a Certificate of Proficiency in Lawyering Skills during law school.

Chris has also completed the AAJ Ultimate Trial Advocacy Course at Harvard Law School in 2016. He received the CALI Award for State and Local Government Law. His education and training support his courtroom work, settlement strategy, and careful handling of serious personal injury and workers’ compensation claims.

Chris has earned recognition for his skill and dedication to injured clients. He was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star and was listed on Coastal Virginia’s Top Lawyers List in 2023 and 2026. He was also recognized as a Top Lawyer in Workers’ Compensation by Coastal Virginia Magazine.

Chris has obtained major results for clients, including settlements of $1,000,000, $997,000, $800,000, $750,000, and $500,000. These matters involved traumatic brain injury, workers’ compensation, a commercial car crash, wrongful death, nursing home negligence, and a pedestrian injury in a parking lot in a serious legal case matter.

Chris combines trial advocacy with creative problem-solving to seek strong outcomes for clients. He has resolved cases through mediation and settlement conferences, and he has defended favorable outcomes when insurance companies appealed. He treats every case as serious because each client has a future, family, and life at stake.

Chris Daughtry is licensed in the state and federal courts of Virginia and West Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He represents clients before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the federal Office of Administrative Law Judges.
