About
Cheryl Mandala is Of Counsel at Cashion Gilmore & Lindemuth in Anchorage and brings extensive experience in civil litigation, appeals, administrative proceedings, mediation, and arbitration. She joined the firm in 2025 after years of public and private legal service. Her background includes representing institutional clients, handling tort, employment, and education matters, and resolving disputes in trial, appellate, and administrative settings where careful evaluation of both law and procedure is important.
Mandala graduated Order of the Coif from Stanford Law School and holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota. She began her legal career as a clerk for Alaska Supreme Court Justice Alexander O. Bryner. Her legal and policy education, combined with appellate clerkship experience, provided a strong foundation for analyzing complex records, interpreting statutes and regulations, and preparing written decisions and advocacy in contested matters.
Mandala spent seven years in private practice working on tort, employment, and education matters and later spent three years defending the State of Alaska against tort claims. In 2015, she joined the Alaska Office of Administrative Hearings and eventually served as Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge. In that role, she handled complex administrative cases, including professional licensing matters, and developed substantial experience conducting hearings and resolving disputes through formal and alternative processes.
Cheryl Mandala has also served as a hearing officer and has training and experience in mediation and arbitration. She completed a 40-hour mediation training program and has mediated disputes for more than a decade. Her combination of litigation, administrative adjudication, appellate, and dispute-resolution work helps clients assess legal risk, present clear arguments, and pursue practical resolutions in matters that can involve government agencies, institutions, professionals, and complex procedural requirements.
