About
Cody B. Doig is Of Counsel in Stoel Rives’ Anchorage office and a member of the firm’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources practice. He advises clients on environmental permitting, compliance, litigation, and natural-resource development. His work involves federal and state regulatory programs that can shape mining, infrastructure, energy, and other major projects, with an emphasis on developing defensible permits and addressing legal challenges that arise during project planning and operation.
Doig earned a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also attended the University of Colorado Boulder. His legal education supports a practice involving detailed statutory and regulatory frameworks, administrative records, agency decision-making, and litigation. Over nearly 15 years of environmental practice, he has developed experience applying those skills to permitting and compliance issues under major federal environmental and public-lands laws.
Doig advises on matters involving the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, National Forest Management Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and related state laws. His work also includes CERCLA and RCRA site cleanup matters. He has represented clients on major natural-resource development projects and in administrative appeals and litigation concerning permits, agency decisions, remediation obligations, and project approvals.
Cody B. Doig serves as Co-Chair of the Alaska Bar Association’s Arctic Law Section. His practice combines environmental counseling with litigation experience, allowing him to assist clients before, during, and after the permitting process. He helps organizations build regulatory records, evaluate compliance requirements, respond to agency action, defend permits in court, and address environmental issues that can affect project schedules, development decisions, and long-term operations in Alaska.
