About
Cheri Turnage Gatlin is the Managing Partner of Burr & Forman LLP’s Jackson, Mississippi office and a past chair of the firm’s Construction practice group. She handles construction and project development, commercial litigation, labor and employment, appellate matters, international contract arbitration, government relations, antitrust, and related business disputes. Her work includes advising national and international companies through the development and construction of commercial and industrial facilities.
Gatlin holds an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the University of London, a J.D. with special distinction from Mississippi College School of Law, and a B.S. from Mississippi College. In law school, she was a member of the Order of the Barristers. Her education in law and dispute resolution supports a practice that spans litigation, arbitration, contract risk, project development, and complex commercial relationships with domestic and international dimensions.
Gatlin represents contractors, owners, designers, and industrial entities in construction defaults, delays, disruptions, contract disputes, fraud claims, competition issues, and construction-related tort matters. Her experience also includes international contracts, trade regulation, sanctions, tariffs, and risk allocation. She has handled a major commercial fraud matter, tried a copyright-infringement claim, argued a multi-party commercial-insurance case before the Mississippi Supreme Court, and served as an arbitrator in construction cases.
Cheri Turnage Gatlin has been recognized by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers, and she is an American Arbitration Association Commercial Arbitrator. Her work frequently requires coordination among business leaders, project participants, insurers, and dispute-resolution forums. By combining project-development experience with courtroom and arbitration work, she helps clients address legal problems that can affect construction schedules, commercial relationships, risk allocation, and significant capital investments.
