Chad Locken

Chad Locken is an attorney at Gellhaus & Gellhaus, P.C. in Aberdeen, South Dakota. His practice includes personal injury, civil litigation, business law, real estate, estate planning, wills, agricultural law, and criminal law. He works on legal issues affecting people, property, and businesses, including the claims and disputes that may follow an injury. Chad earned a B.S. from North Dakota State University in 2007 and a J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2011, graduating with distinction. He was admitted to the South Dakota bar in 2011. His education prepared him to analyze legal disputes, assess evidence, and work with the rules governing both civil and criminal cases. That training supports his broad range of legal services.

Chad previously worked as a deputy state’s attorney for Brown County from 2011 to 2013 and held a state’s attorney position in Marshall County in 2013. Those prosecutorial positions gave him experience with criminal proceedings and courtroom responsibilities. In private practice, he handles injury claims as well as civil disputes, business matters, real property issues, and agricultural law concerns, drawing on experience with both public and private legal work.

Chad Locken has participated in South Dakota Access to Justice pro bono activities since 2012 and has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2011. His practice reflects experience with varied legal needs, from personal injury disputes to planning and property matters. He helps clients evaluate the facts of their situation and understand the legal routes available to them.
