About
Casey Weaver is an environmental lawyer and Associate at Lyons Gaddis, P.C., and a member of the firm’s water practice group. His practice focuses on water law, where he provides legal counsel to municipalities, special districts, mutual ditch companies, water users’ associations, and individual water users. His interest in this field grew while he was growing up in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, where he became familiar with the challenges of limited water resources. That experience influenced his decision to pursue a legal career focused on water-related matters.
Casey earned his J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. During law school, he served on the editorial board of the University of Denver Water Law Review and worked as an editor for the Denver Law Review. He also served as a teaching assistant in Denver Law’s legal research and writing program.
Casey developed practical experience with Colorado water and natural resources law through several legal internships. He interned with the Water Court for Water Division No. 5, Denver Water, the Colorado Water Trust, and the Natural Resources and Environment Section of the Colorado Office of the Attorney General. These roles provided exposure to water rights, natural resources matters, public entities, and the legal framework governing water use and management throughout Colorado. After earning his law degree, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jason D. Carrithers of the First Judicial District Court in Jefferson County.
Casey Weaver applies his background in water law and public-sector matters when advising clients with varied water interests at his law practice. His work supports governmental entities, organizations, companies, and individual users navigating legal questions involving water resources. He has also written about developments in Colorado water law, including issues involving agreements governing water rights and changing legal approaches to river flows. His combination of academic work, court experience, and water-focused internships provides a practical foundation for representing clients in Colorado’s complex water law system.
