Carol I. Zacheiss is an experienced attorney who assists clients with criminal law matters. She provides individual attention, guidance, and sound legal advice to people facing serious charges. Her practice includes criminal defense, DUI defense, drug crimes, domestic violence, sex crimes, white collar crimes, and other related matters.
Carol earned her education from New York University and Seton Hall University School of Law. Her legal training prepared her for years of work in prosecution and criminal defense. She uses that experience to help clients understand the legal process and address difficult legal situations with confidence and support.
Carol spent the first seven years of her legal career as a Prosecutor in Brooklyn and the Bronx. After relocating to Virginia, she worked with the Richmond City Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and later joined the Petersburg Public Defender’s Office to assist individuals facing serious criminal charges.
Carol also helped open two Public Defender’s Offices in the Tidewater area. Her legal experience includes violent crimes, firearm possession charges, domestic violence matters, drug crimes, firearms charges, and Fourth Amendment Search and Seizure issues. She also handles criminal appeals, restraining orders, concealed carry permit denials, and gun right restoration.
Carol is a member of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Indigent Criminal Defense Commission. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and New York. Her past positions include work with several public defender and prosecutor offices, as well as the New York City Law Department.
