C. Randall Hinrichs

C. Randall Hinrichs is an attorney and of counsel with Russell Law whose background includes more than two decades on the bench and extensive criminal trial experience. Before entering private practice, he served as Suffolk County Administrative Judge, Supervising Judge of the Suffolk County Court, and a New York State Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Hinrichs earned a B.A. from Bucknell University and a J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. His legal education preceded a long public-service career in prosecution and the judiciary, providing the academic foundation for decades of courtroom, administrative, and trial responsibilities.

Mr. Hinrichs served in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office from 1982 through 2001. He became Chief of the Case Advisory Bureau and Deputy Chief of the Major Crime Bureau and prosecuted homicide cases. After joining the bench, he presided over felony trials, including 29 homicide trials to verdict, and previously handled abuse, neglect, and custody matters as an Acting Family Court Judge. He later oversaw Suffolk County’s court system, including approximately 1,000 employees and 80 judges.
