About

Brody O’Connor began his career serving the public long before entering the legal field. Starting in community safety roles, he built a foundation rooted in accountability, investigation, and service. That early experience shaped his approach to the law, focusing on careful analysis, clear communication, and strong advocacy for people facing serious legal challenges.

Brody pursued his formal education while actively working in demanding public safety positions. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Weber State University, developing insight into human behavior and decision-making. He later attended the S.J. Quinny College of Law at the University of Utah, completing his Juris Doctor while working full-time in the fire department.

Brody entered public service in 2001 as a Community Service Officer with the Ogden Police Department. During nearly five years in law enforcement, he worked closely with the community and gained firsthand knowledge of criminal procedures, investigations, and public accountability, experience that continues to inform his legal perspective.

Brody later joined the Salt Lake City Fire Department, where he served as a fire inspector using his police certification. He enforced fire codes, issued citations, and became part of the arson investigation unit. His training included coursework at the National Fire Academy with FEMA collaboration.

Brody earned NAFI certifications as a Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI). He also worked alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on complex arson cases, including investigations involving losses exceeding $5 million.

Brody expanded his service through specialized tactical roles. He served four years as a tactical medic with the SWAT team and completed the ATF-TMOC Tactical Medic course at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also assisted the Utah Legislature in updating arson laws to better address repeat offenders.

Brody O’Connor applies his background in criminal defense and family law with a practical, experience-driven approach. His career reflects a commitment to public safety, detailed investigation, and steady advocacy, helping clients navigate the legal system with clarity, preparation, and confidence.
