Brian J. Banahan is a dedicated Illinois attorney with more than two decades of experience serving clients in DuPage, Kane, and Cook Counties. He began his legal career in 1997 as a full-time 711 prosecutor with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, gaining valuable courtroom experience early on. His background includes extensive work in probate, civil litigation, family law, estate matters, and real estate, giving clients strong guidance during challenging legal situations.

Mr. Banahan earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northern Illinois University College of Law and his B.S. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and is a long-standing member of the DuPage County, Kane County, and Illinois State Bar Associations. His strong academic and professional foundation helps him analyze complex issues, develop clear strategies, and offer practical solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

Over his 17 years as Deputy Public Administrator for DuPage County, Mr. Banahan managed, litigated, and resolved hundreds of estates involving millions of dollars in assets. This role allowed him to gain deep knowledge in probate administration, asset recovery, contested matters, and related proceedings across many areas of law. Alongside this work, he maintained an active private practice, successfully representing clients in probate, family law, civil disputes, real estate transactions, and elder law matters.

In 2014, Brian J. Banahan co-founded Banahan & Haas, combining decades of experience to better serve clients throughout the region. Known for honesty, integrity, and practical insight, he remains personally involved in every case and is committed to delivering effective, result-driven legal service.
