Brian C. Nash is a partner at Morrison Foerster’s Austin office and serves as Managing Partner and Co-Chair of the global IP Litigation Group and the broader Intellectual Property Group. His national practice focuses on complex intellectual property disputes, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights.
Brian Nash earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Iowa State University. He is also a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, which complements his extensive work in technology-driven legal matters.
Over the course of his career, Brian has led more than 250 intellectual property cases in federal district courts, the PTAB, the ITC, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. His technical fluency in semiconductors, blockchain, software, VR, e-commerce, and complex manufacturing processes makes him a trusted advocate for clients in high-stakes litigation.
A respected figure in the Western District of Texas, Brian has handled over 80 cases, more than 50 before Judge Alan Albright. He is the founding president of the Honorable Lee Yeakel IP Inn of Court and has held leadership roles with the Austin Federal Bar Association and the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association.
Brian C. Nash’s representative victories include securing a dispositive claim construction ruling for a Fortune 50 semiconductor company and achieving full claim invalidation in inter partes review proceedings. His clients include leading technology and energy companies such as Anheuser-Busch and Cimarex Energy Co., for whom he offers sophisticated IP strategy and defense.
Brian began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Richard Linn of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. With a rare combination of legal insight and engineering expertise, He continues to deliver winning results in today’s most technically demanding IP disputes.
