Brent T. Ackerson

Brent T. Ackerson is a Louisville, Kentucky attorney whose practice focuses on personal injury, wrongful death, and employment-related litigation. He represents people injured in motor vehicle accidents, dangerous property incidents, defective product cases, workplace accidents, and matters involving nursing home abuse or injuries to children. His work also includes employment discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and healthcare and government whistleblower matters.

Brent earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Louisville in 1997 and later received his J.D. in 2000 after attending the University of Akron College of Law. He was a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar and received the University of Louisville’s Louis C. Kesselman Memorial Award. During law school, he also won a regional American Bar Association Law Student Division negotiation competition, strengthening skills in advocacy, analysis, and dispute resolution.

Brent is licensed to practice throughout Kentucky and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. He has also handled matters in Indiana and Ohio through special admissions. His background includes serving as a clerk for the Summit County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio and gaining early courtroom experience with the City of Akron Public Defender’s Office. His litigation work spans accident, injury, employment, and other civil matters involving individuals and families.

Brent T. Ackerson is a member of the Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, and Kentucky Justice Association/Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys. He has also served Louisville as an elected Metro Council member and received the Gary Gupton Community Award in 2011 for helping complete a facility serving people with Down syndrome and their families. His legal and public service experience reflects a long-standing focus on protecting individual rights and helping clients address serious legal challenges.
