About
Brent A. Rosser is a partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina. He advises utilities, energy companies, and other businesses on environmental compliance and defends clients in litigation and regulatory proceedings. His practice includes disputes involving water, waste, chemicals, air pollution, nuisance, and trespass. Over more than two decades, he has represented companies in complex environmental matters before trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies. His work often brings together environmental regulations and the business consequences of enforcement actions, remediation duties, and contested claims.
Brent earned a B.A. in History from Furman University in 1999 and a J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2002. His education provided the foundation for a practice that combines legal analysis with detailed environmental statutes and regulations. He applies that training to evaluate enforcement risks, develop responses to litigation, and advise businesses on their obligations under federal and state environmental law.
Brent has handled more than 50 administrative and litigation matters involving coal ash and its management. These have included disputes under the Clean Water Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, agency enforcement actions, and private nuisance claims. He has advised power generators and distributors on coal combustion residuals and related requirements. His environmental litigation experience includes matters reaching federal appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Brent A. Rosser has been recognized by Chambers USA for environmental law and by The Best Lawyers in America for environmental law and environmental litigation. He has contributed pro bono services through the Children’s Law Center and Legal Services organizations in Charlotte. By combining litigation experience with regulatory advice, he helps utilities and businesses address disputes and make informed decisions about environmental compliance and waste management.
