Brendan Aloysius Barry

Brendan Aloysius Barry is a partner in the Ft. Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen LLP and a member of the Real Estate Practice Group. He advises owners, developers, and lenders on complex commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, development, leasing, financing, and asset disposition.

Brendan earned a J.D. from New York Law School in 1994 and a B.A. from Florida Atlantic University in 1991. He is admitted to practice in Florida and Maine and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Brendan has extensive experience in securitized lending, syndications, workouts, restructures, and foreclosures. He represents clients across the full lifecycle of commercial real estate transactions and corporate assets. His practical approach helps clients manage risk, close deals efficiently, and address challenges in changing market conditions.

Brendan is Florida Bar Board Certified in Real Estate and holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV® rating. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate and by Florida Super Lawyers for Mergers and Acquisitions. He was named Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law in 2026.

Brendan is active in professional and civic organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Port Everglades Association and Fish Florida. He has served as a City Commissioner for the Village of Sea Ranch Lakes and as a member of the Big Cypress National Preserve Off-Road Advisory Committee.

Brendan has also contributed to the New York Law School Alumni Association Board and the Broward County School Board Audit Committee from 2014 to 2019. He supports industry and community initiatives through leadership roles that reflect his commitment to service and professional engagement.
