Brandon C. Marx

Brandon C. Marx is a solo attorney in Sitka, Alaska, who represents clients across Southeast Alaska and throughout the state. His broad civil and criminal practice includes family law, property and real estate, criminal defense, personal injury, probate, landlord-tenant disputes, simple wills, maritime claims, and construction law. He helps clients address practical legal problems through direct advice, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy.

Marx earned a B.A. in philosophy, cum laude, from Gonzaga University in 1997, where he was an NCAA Division I scholarship student-athlete. He received his J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2002, earning American Jurisprudence awards in water law and property and estates. He also served as articles editor of the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law. This academic background supports his work on property, estate, environmental, and litigation matters.

Before entering private practice, Marx clerked with Legal Aid Services of Oregon and the US Department of Justice’s Environmental Crimes Section. He later served as law clerk to Alaska Superior Court Judge Larry Zervos and worked as a conflict criminal defense attorney for the Office of Public Advocacy from 2004 to 2008. His representative experience includes obtaining a federal court judgment exceeding $4 million for a client in a gold mining dispute.

Marx has practiced independently in Sitka since 2003 and serves clients in communities across Southeast Alaska as well as other parts of the state. He is an executive member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys and has belonged to the American Bar Association since 2003, including its Real Property and Estates and Family Law sections.
