About

Brandon A. Bullard is the founder and principal lawyer of The Bullard Firm, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, where he focuses on criminal appeals and post-conviction matters. He represents people challenging state and federal convictions through direct appeals, habeas corpus petitions, and related relief. Bullard also consults with trial lawyers on difficult criminal law issues, helping preserve arguments for appeal and address complex questions of procedure and constitutional law.

Bullard earned a Bachelor of Music from Georgia State University in 2002 and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2007. His legal education provided a foundation for appellate writing, legal research, oral advocacy, and close analysis of criminal procedure. Those skills support a practice centered on identifying legal error, developing appellate arguments, and presenting complex issues clearly before state and federal courts.

Before entering private practice, Bullard spent 12 and a half years in Georgia’s public defender system. He served in several leadership positions, including Chief Legal Officer and Appellate Director for the Georgia Public Defender Council, where he supervised 12 lawyers handling complex appeals statewide. His private practice includes significant criminal appellate matters, and he has obtained reversals or other relief in cases involving murder, vehicular manslaughter, criminal contempt, guilty pleas, sentencing, and immunity from prosecution.

Brandon A. Bullard has served as chair of the State Bar of Georgia’s Appellate Practice Section and is a longtime member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Amicus Curiae Committee. He has lectured on criminal law and appellate practice and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and multiple federal appellate courts. His work combines extensive public defense experience, appellate advocacy, and focused representation for clients seeking review of criminal convictions.
