Bobbi Thury

Bobbi L. Thury is Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and an attorney at Legacy Law Firm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her practice and leadership focus on estate planning, asset protection, business succession, elder law, and planning for people with special needs. She works with individuals, families, and business owners on legal structures intended to protect assets, coordinate future decision-making, and support orderly transitions of wealth and business interests.

Bobbi earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2007, where she served as Managing Editor of the South Dakota Law Review. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Sciences from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. After law school, she clerked for South Dakota’s Second Judicial Circuit.

Bobbi’s planning work includes estate plans, asset-protection strategies, business succession, elder-law matters, and special needs planning. Before co-founding Legacy Law Firm, she practiced as a partner at Cutler Law Firm LLP. She has also participated in professional education and legislative work related to estate and elder law. Her business training supports counseling on ownership transitions and the practical operation of succession plans for closely held businesses.

Bobbi L. Thury is a board-certified Estate Planning Law Specialist and has earned additional credentials in estate planning and elder-law-related fields. She has been recognized by Best Lawyers and Great Plains Super Lawyers and is admitted in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and federal court in South Dakota. Her practice combines technical planning knowledge with business experience to help clients prepare for succession, incapacity, asset transfers, and long-term family needs.
