Benjamin J. Christoff is a Principal at Fish & Richardson in Washington, DC. He represents clients in intellectual property trials and appeals involving a wide range of technologies. His practice includes work in U.S. district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He brings more than a decade of litigation and legal-writing experience to complex patent disputes.

Christoff earned an LL.M. with highest honors in Intellectual Property from George Washington University Law School in 2014, a J.D. in Intellectual Property from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2013, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton in 2010. His technical education supports litigation involving sophisticated products, engineering concepts, and scientific evidence across multiple industries.

Christoff has worked on matters involving semiconductors, medical devices, memory technology, wireless communications, computer networks and databases, digital rights management, near field communication, tissue grafting technology, and biofuels. He has played significant roles in trials and appeals for major consumer electronics companies and in litigation for an automobile manufacturer involving cellular communications. His courtroom work includes claim-construction arguments, jury-instruction issues, JMOL arguments, and witness examination.

Benjamin J. Christoff clerked for Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2020 to 2022. That appellate experience complements his trial and agency work and strengthens his perspective on preserving issues, developing legal arguments, and presenting complex patent questions. His practice combines chemical engineering knowledge, broad technology exposure, and experience across trial, administrative, and appellate forums.
