About
Ben Crump is one of America’s most influential attorneys, known for his work in civil rights, personal injury, class actions, and social justice litigation. Referred to as “Black America’s Attorney General,” he has represented clients in some of the nation’s most high-profile cases, addressing wrongful deaths, systemic discrimination, and corporate misconduct. His career reflects a tireless dedication to advocacy, reform, and equal protection under the law.
Ben earned his Bachelor’s from Florida State University and his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law. Licensed in Florida, the District of Columbia, and Tennessee, he is also admitted to practice before multiple federal courts. His education and early commitment to justice provided the foundation for a legal career focused on protecting marginalized communities and advancing landmark legal and legislative changes.
Ben has represented families in historic cases, including those of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and Ahmaud Arbery. He has also advocated for the residents of Flint, Michigan, in water contamination litigation and for the family of Henrietta Lacks in a reparations case. His work has secured significant verdicts and settlements, including a $641 million settlement for Flint residents and a $27 million settlement for the Floyd family.
Beyond the courtroom, Ben Crump serves as President of the National Civil Rights Trial Lawyers Association and has led the National Bar Association. His honors include the NAACP Thurgood Marshall Award, the SCLC Martin Luther King Servant Leader Award, and recognition in TIME100. He is the author of Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People and frequently contributes to national media. Through leadership, litigation, and advocacy, Ben continues to shape civil rights law in America.
