About
Autumn T. Smith is an associate at Forman Watkins & Krutz LLP in Jackson whose practice focuses on complex civil litigation. Autumn began practicing in 2017 and has defended toxic tort, talc, asbestos, professional liability, personal injury, construction defect, and trucking cases in Mississippi and Louisiana. She also brings federal judicial clerkship experience to her work, which supports careful motion practice, legal research, and case strategy in high-stakes disputes.
Autumn earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law and a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Industrial Engineering, cum laude, from Clemson University. In law school, she participated in the Mississippi Law Journal and held leadership roles in student organizations. Her combined training in law, psychology, and industrial engineering provides a useful academic foundation for litigation involving technical evidence, workplace issues, products, and complex factual records.
Before joining FormanWatkins, Autumn served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael P. Mills of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. In 2026, she and another FormanWatkins attorney led the defense team in an eight-day federal asbestos trial in the Eastern District of Louisiana that resulted in a unanimous verdict finding no liability for their client. She has also appeared in toxic tort and asbestos matters involving major corporate defendants.
Autumn T. Smith has been recognized as a Mid-South Rising Star, including in the 2025 selection. Her practice combines federal clerkship experience, multi-state litigation, and substantial work in asbestos, toxic tort, and products-related defense. She helps clients address difficult civil claims through focused research, witness and evidence preparation, motion practice, trial strategy, and close attention to the technical and procedural issues that shape complex litigation.
