Austin M. Lux

Austin M. Lux is a Colorado Springs criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor who represents people facing criminal charges. His practice centers on courtroom advocacy, case strategy, and protecting clients’ rights throughout the legal process. Drawing on experience from both sides of the courtroom, he evaluates the prosecution’s case, prepares matters for trial, and helps clients understand the legal issues and possible paths forward in difficult circumstances.

Austin earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver in 2016, where he focused on litigation. During law school, he served as an assistant editor for the 2016 edition of the Colorado Evidence Courtroom Manual, a reference used by judges and legal practitioners across Colorado. This academic and editorial work strengthened his understanding of evidence and courtroom procedure, which continues to support his careful preparation and trial-focused approach to criminal defense.

Austin began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s 4th Judicial District. He handled a broad range of criminal cases and spent months each year trying cases before juries. As a manager in the County Court division, he trained and supervised new attorneys. He also provided training to local law enforcement agencies and practiced in El Paso and Teller counties, gaining substantial experience with criminal investigations, case preparation, and trial procedure.

Austin M. Lux also served as a member of the Southern Colorado Drug Task Force and as a liaison to the Drug Enforcement Administration. In that role, he worked with the DEA on efforts involving large-scale drug-trafficking organizations across Southern Colorado. Since entering private practice, he has applied his knowledge of prosecution strategy and trial work to advocate for clients in court, with an emphasis on thorough preparation and informed legal guidance.
