About

Ashley A. Cooper is a partner at Cooper, Barton & Cooper and a seasoned trial attorney serving clients throughout Georgia. Her legal practice focuses on criminal defense, juvenile matters, family law, civil litigation, and appellate advocacy. With extensive courtroom experience in both Juvenile and Superior Courts, she represents clients at critical moments and protects their rights through strategic, results-driven legal advocacy. Her background as both a prosecutor and defense attorney gives her a well-rounded perspective that benefits every case she handles.

Ashley earned her J.D. from Appalachian School of Law, where she concentrated on trial advocacy and criminal law. During law school, she completed a judicial internship with the Honorable John S. McLellan, III, gaining firsthand insight into courtroom procedure and judicial decision-making. She holds a B.A. Honors in English and a B.A. in Political Science from East Tennessee State University, academic training that supports her strong legal writing, persuasive advocacy, and analytical approach to complex legal issues.

Ashley served for several years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Macon Judicial Circuit early in her career. In that role, she handled thousands of cases and was responsible for screening and prosecuting juvenile matters, negotiating plea agreements, and presenting cases before Juvenile Court. This experience provided her with a deep understanding of prosecutorial strategy and the juvenile justice system, knowledge she now uses to advocate effectively for her clients.

Ashley A. Cooper founded her own law firm and, after entering private practice, dedicated her career to defending individuals and families facing serious legal challenges. She has built a strong reputation for guiding clients through criminal charges, juvenile proceedings, DFCS cases, domestic relations disputes, and appeals. Her work reflects a commitment to fair outcomes, vigorous advocacy, and practical legal solutions for the people she serves.
