About

Artemio Guerra is an experienced employment law attorney and the Managing Partner of the New York offices of HKM Employment Attorneys. He has dedicated his career to protecting workers’ rights, focusing on wage theft, workplace discrimination, and labor law violations. With a strong background in employment litigation, he has successfully represented workers in complex class and collective action lawsuits against some of the largest corporations in the country.

Artemio earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2010. Before pursuing law, he obtained an M.S. in Urban Studies from Hunter College in 2005 and a B.S. in Philosophy and Religion from Toccoa Falls College in 1996. His education gave him a deep understanding of legal, social, and economic issues impacting workers’ rights.

After law school, Artemio served as Coordinating Attorney for the Immigrant Worker Rights Project at Catholic Migration Services in Queens, NY. He represented low-wage workers in wage disputes and collaborated with OSHA and the U.S. Department of Labor to educate them on their rights.

Before joining HKM Employment Attorneys, Artemio spent over a decade litigating against corporations that engaged in wage theft and unfair labor practices. His work in class action lawsuits has led to significant legal victories for workers across multiple industries.

Beyond litigation, Artemio has been an active advocate for workers’ rights. He previously worked as a community organizer for over 15 years, leading efforts to protect janitors, low-income tenants, and homeowners. His leadership helped pass a New York City law preventing the illegal lock-in of night cleaning crews in retail establishments.

Artemio Guerra serves on the Worker Justice Center of New York board, focusing on protecting agricultural and low-wage workers. He has also held leadership positions with the Metropolitan Council on Housing and ABC No Rio, advocating for housing justice and community activism. With a deep commitment to labor rights and social justice, Artemio continues to be a powerful advocate for employees facing workplace violations.
