About
Annie Stephens is a Portland family law attorney with DBMA Family Law Group. Her practice focuses on helping clients address difficult and complex family law issues through practical, personalized solutions. She handles divorce, child custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, modifications, enforcement, contempt, domestic abuse and restraining order matters, domestic partnerships, premarital agreements, post-marital agreements, and appeals. Her approach emphasizes compassion, sensitivity, and focused advocacy for families facing significant transitions.
Annie earned a J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2016, an M.Ed. from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2011, and a B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009. Before law school, she worked as a high school special education teacher through Teach For America. During law school, she worked as a student attorney in Juvenile and Family Law Clinics, assisting children and low-income clients.
Annie moved to Portland after law school and clerked for the Honorable Diana I. Stuart, a former Multnomah County family law judge. That clerkship gave her direct exposure to family court proceedings before she entered practice. Her current work combines litigation and problem solving across divorce, custody, support, protective order, and appellate matters. Her prior teaching and clinical experience further informs her ability to explain difficult legal issues clearly and work with clients through emotionally demanding disputes.
Annie Stephens has been admitted to the Oregon State Bar since 2016. Her professional memberships include the Oregon State Bar Family Law Section, Oregon Women Lawyers Association, Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Multnomah Bar Association, and Oregon Academy of Family Law Practitioners. Her background in family law clinics, judicial clerkship work, and family law practice supports a client-centered approach to resolving disputes while protecting important family, financial, and parenting interests.
